Ball-driven mobility platforms have shown that spherical wheels can enable substantial freedom of mobility for ground vehicles. Accurate and robust actuation of spherical wheels for high acceleration maneuvers and graded terrains can, however, be challenging. In this paper, a novel design for a magnetically coupled ball drive is presented.The proposed design utilizes an internal support structure and magnetic coupling to eliminate the need for an external claw-like support structure. A model of the proposed design is developed and used to evaluate the slip/no-slip operational window. Due to the high-dimensional nature of the model, the design space is sampled using randomly generated design instances and the data is used to train a support vector classification machine. Principal component analysis and feature importance detection are used to identify critical parameters that control the slip behavior and the feasible (no-slip) design space. The classification shows an increase in the feasible design space with the addition of, and increase in, the magnetic coupling force. Based on the results of the machine learning algorithm, EMS FEA design tools and experimental testing are used to design a spherical magnetic coupler array configuration that can realize the desired magnetic coupling force for the ball drive.
A Lorentz force linear motion actuator was built to deliberately exhibit a highly nonlinear current for force relation even when the coil was completely immersed in the magnetic field. Magnets were arranged radially around the coil but only half the permissible number were included in order to generate a more complex actuator configuration to test the ability of the EMS electromagnetic finite element analysis software to handle more challenging magnetic path geometries. A detailed set of experiments were carried out on the actual actuator and a similar set of analyses were undertaken using the EMS magnetostatic electromagnetic finite element analysis software. EMS correctly accounted for the gross nonlinearities in the current to force measurements.

I started using EMS because I was looking for a software that could compute accurate 3D magnetic field results, and at the same time provide all the associated variables, such as inductance, force, losses etc. Not only EMS perfectly fulfilled my simulation demands, but I also benefited from the great tech. support, which made my experience with EMS even more enjoyable.
EMS by EMWorks was instrumental in my high school science project. My project required me to find the force produced when a rotating Halbach array is placed above a conductive surface. By carrying out multiple simulations using EMS I determined how changes in the dimensions of the wheels affected their produced thrust and how to create an optimized wheel. Even though I am a high school student with limited simulation experience it was easy for me to learn how to use EMS in a few days. The integration with Solidworks allowed me to rapidly change designs and test multiple configurations. I cannot see any problem on this. It has a lot of sense to have an installation for Cinema 4D Lite and Cineware effect as a lot of mographers use C4D as their primary 3D tool for motion graphics and AE for 3D integration and post.
Thanks, I didn't mean this tool is not good, I mean force installing of ANY 3rd party app/component with any software is NOT a good behavior and is a minus point in terms of development! They just have to give user an option to install it or not! We know that most applications leave footprints on the target system after uninstalling, both in registry and file system! Beside that, some customers won't use that! Thanks though...

It would be amazing to have more products included at the current subscription price: Boris FX, Red Giant, Video Copilot, Digieffects, RE:Vision, Frischluft, Render Garden - just to name a few. Any of the 3rd party options listed in the AE documention would be excellent.
Hello, After-Effects user with NO need of Cinema4D! And NO software company owns my PC and tells me what to install and what not! This applies to forced Cinema4D install and the Adobe Suite itself (I have to disable the auto-start services on every update of the suite again, because Adobe and Co think their software is the most important thing for every user and has to run all the time the PC is on. Spoiler: It isn't.)
