Introduction: Tensile testing is the most commonly used method to analyze the strength of a civil engineering safety glass. Physical results are typically expressed in terms of the tensile failure stress (Tfs), which is obtained by dividing the maximum load by the cross-section of the specimen (see Rec. 3d max crack 2009 445 § 482.1). The tensile testing methodology has been established and standardized by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) (ASTM 1999).
